ForNGO 2023 Annual Report: Persevering in Pursuit of ‘Justice’ Amid Challenges and Distractions

The year 2023 was a year of restart.

This year, ForNGO held its ground amidst surging waves and sought survival amidst shifting circumstances!

From the beginning of the year, ForNGO organized a series of legal seminars and training events. These included a salon on the revision of the Charity Law, the 4th ForNGO Social Organization Compliance Salon, courses on intellectual property risk identification and management for public welfare organizations, programs to enhance legal awareness and compliance capacity for environmental social organizations, an expert seminar on “Tobacco Donations in China’s Charity Sector,” the inauguration ceremony of the “FuN Academy” and the MPS Shanghai Night Forum, and a parallel forum of the China Foundation Development Forum. In 2023, we also completed research outputs such as A Guide to Intellectual Property Risk Identification and Management for Public Welfare Organizations and Gender-Inclusive Workplace Environments: Legal Compliance and Practice.

Our key priorities for 2024 are threefold:

First, to serve the broad spectrum of social organizations by developing online courses. We will launch video courses for the popularization of the new Charity Law and gradually introduce a systematic series of interactive courses to meet the learning needs regarding the new Charity Law, its supporting regulations, and strengthened legal risk management.

Second, to continue the development of the Yiliang Public Welfare Wiki website (www.yilight.com.cn). In 2024, Yiliang plans to add new sections focusing on women, children, the environment, and rural development, collaborating with public welfare partners in relevant fields to develop themed entry packages.

Third, we will continue to serve young people. To cultivate legal talent for the public welfare sector, we will continue our “Public Interest Legal Bud Discovery Program” and “Yu Qian Program.” We hope to soon expand the beneficiary groups of these projects from law students to young legal and public welfare professionals in the early stages of their careers (within three years)!

In 2024, ForNGO will strive with renewed vigor, living up to its significant responsibilities, diligently serving social organizations, and fulfilling its social mission!
